Christmas markets

Christmas markets are undoubtedly among the most popular excursion destinations in the Italian Alps in winter. Some famous ones are in the cities of Merano, Bolzano, Bressanone, Brunico, and Vipiteno. Smaller markets, open on the days around Christmas or on weekends, can be found in many other villages throughout South Tyrol. Listen to the festive sounds, try homemade Christmas treats, and browse through thousands of gift ideas.

Naturno Thermal Baths

Even closer to us is the Erlebnistherme Naturns (adventure thermal baths). In the large pool, you’ll find highlights such as the current channel, a 51-metre-long slide, neck massages, and whirlpool loungers. For complete relaxation, there’s the thermal pool, brine pool, and hot tub. The restaurant isn’t just for a quick snack; it also offers hot dishes, pizza, Asian cuisine, and sushi.

Ötzi Museum

The archeoParc, the Ötzi Museum in Val Senales, is closed in winter. Instead, the South Tyrol Archaeology Museum in Bolzano awaits you, where you can admire Ötzi personally with all his belongings. In addition to the history of the glacier mummy, you’ll also learn more about the Copper Age in South Tyrol. Research updates, changing special exhibitions, and guided tours tailored to different groups make the visit especially exciting.
